Description

This optional High Voltage front end, when combined with a BMS controller, completes a Li-Ion BMS by adding safety testing and may include current sensing.

Note that some BMS controllers already include a High Voltage front end within their enclosures.
However, a separate HV front end:

• Keeps the high voltage away from the BMS controller
• Keeps any electrical noise away from the BMS controller
• May simplify the layout of high voltage cabling

This separate High Voltage front end performs these functions:

• Tests for end of precharge through a precharge resistor
• Tests for loss of insulation
• Measures battery current (except the 2HV0000B)

This HV front end includes:

• An on-board current sensor (except the 2HV0000B)

This HV front end does not include:

• A metal enclosure
• The 2HV0000B does not include a current sensor (a cable mounted current sensor is available)

Selection

* An external current sensor is required, unless the battery current value is already present on the CAN Bus.
